Sometimes Christmas is not so great, like it is here for Kay Scarpetta when she is called in on a case where an apparently homeless girl is shot in Central Park, New York on Christmas Eve. Later a policeman is shot in a subway tunnel and also a crooked local sheriff is also murdered. The figure of serial killer Temple Gault is on the loose.
Kay Scarpetta the Medical Examiner must track him down and she is assisted by Benton Wesley the profiler and Marino the cop. The book ducks and dives through the clues before the impressive climax on the New York subway system where Gault hides out.
This is one of the better Scarpetta novels.
An 8/10 for me.
