Book Review: Cruel and Unusual by Patricia Cornwell (Kay Scarpetta 4)

A good mystery read. Kay Scarpetta, the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond waits for the body of a convict who has been put in the electric chair. However at the same time a young boy's body is found next to a rubbish skip. However there are links between the latest victim and the executed convict.

To make matters worse, Scarpetta's assistant Susan Story is killed too and Scarpetta is implicated in the crime.

There is a clever killer on the loose who can manipulate evidence to baffle everyone. Scarpetta is aided by the contrasting Benton Wesley the FBI profiler (Mr Smooth) and the much more down to earth Marino (Mr Rough).

How does Scarpetta remove herself from the list of suspects, how do we discover how seemingly unrelated crimes are related? You need to read the novel!

8/10 for me.
