A man is found dead beside a frozen river in Virginia on New Year's Eve. A diver is dead who was also a reporter who was known and liked at the Medical Examiner's office that is Kay Scarpetta's home turf. Scarpetta finds out about the death by a phone call before the police were notified.
With the help of her niece and detective Marino, Scarpetta begins to sift through the clues, both forensic, electronic and good old fashioned detective work to track down the killer. This is not before they are led through a terrorist plot where hundreds of people could be victims.
Not one of the most enjoyable of reads so only 6/10 for me.
